How Do I Compete in JS?
It's really easy!
If you've decided you want to learn more about cats and how to show them, then you've come to the right place. In the beginning you will be considered a "Novice" and you will show in this division three times. There is no competing; this is just to get you started. The Novice Class is for any age group from 8 years old to 16 years old. You may show a household pet (mixed breed cat) in this division but when you move on to the Junior (ages 8-11) or Senior (ages 12-15) you will need a pedigreed cat to compete. We are also planning a new age group (ages 16-18) called Master Junior Showman, but we'll talk about that later when we have more details for you.
You will be asked to present your cat in a judging ring at a cat show where you will talk about your cat pointing out its best features. A judge will ask you some questions about the cat you are showing and how you care for it. The judge will give you a piece of paper the strong points and weak points of your presentation so that you can work on improving them for your next show.
Sometimes it might seem scary to speak in front of people, but the judges are very nice, and once you've done it a couple of times it won't be so scary.
